Five CFB Coaches That Will Never Win a National Championship

1. Mark Richt (127-64 record at Georgia) Richt took over as head coach of the Bulldogs after six years under Bobby Bowden at Florida State. In just his second season, Richt lead Georgia to a 12-1 which included an SEC Championship and a Sugar Bowl win. Since, Coach Richt has posted seven 10+ win seasons and two BCS Bowls. The recent success of Mark Richt has made Bulldog fans forget about that four game losing streak in 2010 that could have cost Richt his job. Unfortunately for Georgia, Coach Richt has yet to make an championship game appearance and has not been to a BCS bowl since 2007. The SEC is the toughest conference in college football and with Georgia not having a top 5 recruiting class since 2011, the Bulldogs does not have enough depth to make a run at a national championship anytime soon.
2. Frank Beamer (226-110-2 at Virginia Tech) Frank Beamer has been a staple at Virginia Tech since his arrival in 1987. His numbers are legendary including seven conference championships, 6 BCS bowls and a national championship appearance in 1999. Not only has Coach Beamer been terrific on the sidelines but he has coached a host of NFL talent such as Michael Vick, DeAngelo Hall and 2014 1st round pick Kyle Fuller. Moving from the Big East to the ACC at the time looked like an easier path to a championship for Virginia Tech. With Florida State on top and schools such as Duke North Carolina and Miami improving, the Hokies must regain control of the Coastal Division before even thinking about a national championship.

3. Brian Kelly (40-15 at Notre Dame) Brian Kelly made his head coaching debut with Central Michigan and has been moving up the ranks quickly. A stop in Cincinnati turned into a 34-6 record with an undefeated regular season before accepting the Notre Dame job. Kelly turned the historic program around which was coming off a 6-6 record to an 8-5 season his first year. In 2012 Coach Kelly led the Irish to the national championship game where they were dominated by Alabama. Recruiting based off tradition is near the end for Notre Dame as they haven't won a championship since 1988. Due to the Irish independent status and strength of schedule, even if Brian Kelly runs the table, they will always need outside help for a championship appearance
