Tennessee 2-0 @ #4 Oklahoma 2-0 ABC 8:00PM

Trevor Knght throws for 299 and 2 touchdowns vs Tulsa

·    Bob Stoops is not shy to say that his team can compete with the SEC. Oklahoma did defeat Alabama in Sugar Bowl last season and this Saturday the Sooners meet their first test against a rising Volunteers team. Oklahoma’s defense has been lights out this season. The Sooners defense only has allowed 3 points in the first half! Do not sleep on Tennessee at all because the Vols have the type of speed on defense that can disrupt the quarterback. Keep your eyes on linebacker AJ Johnson to have an impact in this game. All eyes will be on Trevor Knight and Sterling Shepard when Oklahoma has the football. This will be a close football game!

#12 UCLA 2-0 vs Texas 1-1 (AT&T Stadium) FOX 8:15PM
Brent Hundley completed 69% of his passes in UCLA first two games

·    For many, the Bruins were big favorites to make it into the College Football Playoffs. UCLA won their first two games but dropped 5 spots in the AP Top 25. UCLA gave up 469 yards to Memphis last week but the reports out of Los Angeles state that there isn’t any panic as long as they win ball games. Texas has not looked impressive under new Head Coach Charlie Strong. The Longhorns were blown out by BYU in their own stadium. Longhorn quarterback Tyrone Swoopes looks to put Texas back on the map with a big upset. To win they will have to force turnover against another mobile quarter by the name of Brent Hundley. UCLA and Texas have split six meetings with the Longhorns winning the most recent 49-20; does history repeat on Saturday?


#6 Georgia 1-0 @ #24 South Carolina 1-1 CBS 2:30
Todd Gurley gained 293 all-purpose yards vs #16 Clemson

·    Just two weeks ago South Carolina was the favorites to win the SEC East.  Two weeks later the Georgia Bulldogs stroll into Columbia the SEC East favorite. The Bulldogs had an impressive opener against Clemson where Todd Gurley went “Beast Mode” including a 100 yard kick return. South Carolina led by just 4 over East Carolina at halftime. The Gamecocks are banking on this home game showdown to defeat Georgia and regain control of the division. The main focus for South Carolina, shut Gurley down but that’s more easy to say than do. With a loss South Carolina can most likely kiss the SEC championship and Playoff spot good-bye. Look for the Gamecocks to play like there is no tomorrow.

Yesterday the NCAA announced that it will be covering travel expenses for student-athletes participating in championship events. The NCAA will pay up to $3,000 in travel, meals and hotel accommodations for student-athletes participating in the men and women Final Four and $4,000 to players participating in the championship game. The College Football Playoffs will also provide $3,000 in travel expenses for each student-athlete's family that will be attend the game in Arlington,TX. In the NCAA's press release, President Mark Emmert said "Championship experiences like the Final Four create memories of a lifetime for a student-athlete, and we want to make sure their families are there to support and celebrate with them." 1   In previous years, the NCAA has provided free tickets for family members traveling to championship contest. basketballsocietyonline.com MVP: Russell Westbrook Oklahoma City Thunder This year's MVP race has been the closest it's been in recent memory. With 5 legit candidates, anyone of them is well deserving of the award but my choice is Westbrook. Not only did he break a record I thought would never be broken with 42 triple-doubles, but after losing 3 out of their top 5 scorers, Westbrook still has the Thunder in the playoffs as a 6th seed and lead the NBA in scoring. Players Need Rest

The media, fans of the NBA and legends of the game are getting upset at coaches resting star players throughout the season. I understand that the fans want to see their favorite player every night but in order to get peak performance out of your favorite players they need rest. NBA players more now than ever have a very demanding schedule on and off the court. Between traveling for games, having multiple endorsement deals and playing on back to back nights; coaches believe that its only fair to gave the players a night off. Most of the players that get nights off usually play through multiple injuries all the time so we shouldn't complain much. I know NBA tickets are not cheap and you expect to see the stars when you buy that ticket but that's the risk you take when you make your purchase. The players and coaches have to put their organization's needs first. None of these players are saying they need rest but it is much appreciated.
