2. Broncos ( L @ SEA 20-26 OT ) Peyton Manning throws for 300 yards for the first time this season in the loss. Denver rushed for 36 yards on 20 attempts. Next Game: vs Arizona

3. Bengals ( W vs TEN 33-7 ) Cincinnati starts the season off 3-0 for the first time since 2006. A.J. Green with 6 catches for 102 yards coming off last week's injury. Next Game: @ New England

4. Eagles ( W vs WAS 37-34 ) Nick Foles completed 66% of his passes for 325 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jeremy Maclin caught 8 passes for 154 yards and a score. Next Game: @ San Francisco

5. Patriots ( W vs OAK 16-9 ) Defense allowed 241 yards on 56 total plays. Tom Brady throws for a touchdown; the only touchdown scored this game. Next Game: vs Cincinnati

6. Cardinals ( W vs SF 23-14 ) Arizona defense allow zero points in the second half. Drew Stanton filled in for injured Carson Palmer by throwing for two touchdowns. Next Game: vs @ Denver

7. Chargers ( W @ BUF 22-10 ) San Diego allowed 87 yards rushing. Manti Te'o totaled 10 tackles in the win. Philip Rivers finished with two touchdown passes. Next Game: vs Jacksonville


8. Bears ( W @ NYJ 27-19 ) Jay Cutler and Martellus Bennett hooked up for two touchdowns in the Bears second straight win.  Chicago defense forced three turnovers including an interception returned for a touchdown. Next Game: vs Green Bay

9. Panthers ( L vs PIT 19-37 ) Rookie Kelvin Benjamin had 8 catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in the lost. Defense gave up 264 yards rushing. Next Game: @ Baltimore

10. Colts ( W @ JAC 44-17 ) Andrew Luck throws four touchdowns in the blowout win. First win of the season for Indy. Lead 30-0 at halftime. Next Game: vs Tennessee

11. Lions ( W vs GB 19-7 ) Reggie Bush scored the lone touchdown for the Lions in the division win. Detroit held the Packers to 223 yards of total offense. Next Game: @ New York Jets 

12. Falcons ( W vs TB 56-14 ) Matt Ryan near perfect going 21/24 286 yards and three touchdowns. Julio Jones was on the receiving end of two of Ryan's touchdown passes. Lead 56-0 going into the 4th quarter. Next Game: @ Minnesota

13. Ravens ( W @ CLE 23-21 ) Justin Tucker's last second field goal gives Baltimore two wins in a row. Rookie Lorenzo Taliaferro rushed for 91 yards on 18 carries for his first action of the season. Next Game: vs Carolina

14. Steelers ( W @ CAR 37-19 ) Pittsburgh had a stretch in the game where they scored on  6 out of 7 possessions. Le'Veon Bell and LaGarrette Blount both rushed for over 100 yards. Next Game: vs Tampa Bay

15. Saints ( W vs MIN 20-9 ) New Orleans win their first game of the season behind Drew Brees two touchdown passes. Defense allowed 2.7 yards per carry in the game. Next Game: @ Dallas

16. 49ers ( L @ ARI 14-23 ) Stevie Johnson caught 9 passes for 103 yards. After a 14-6 halftime lead, the next five San Francisco dives ended in four punts and a blocked field goal. Next Game: vs Philadelphia

17. Packers ( L @ DET 7-19 ) Aaron Rodgers held to under 200 yards for the second game this season. Green Bay forced three turnovers in the loss. Next Game: @ Chicago 

18. Texans ( L vs NYG 17-30 ) Ryan Fitzpatrick throws three interceptions. Texans defense allowed 193 yards rushing. Next Game: vs Buffalo

19. Bills ( L vs SD 10-22 ) Buffalo went their last 5 possissions without scoring. E.J. Manuel finished the game with an 8.4 QBR. Next Game: @ Houston

20. Giants ( W @ WAS 45-14 ) Eli Manning throws four touchdowns, three to Larry Donnell in the blowout win. Defense forced six Washington turnovers. Next Game: vs Atlanta


21. Cowboys ( W @ STL 34-31 ) Tony Romo throws for two touchdowns after being down 21-10 at halftime. Dallas defense intercepted two passes in the 4th quarter. Next Game: vs New Orleans

22. Chiefs ( W vs MIA 34-15 ) Alex Smith throws for three touchdowns and Knile Davis rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown in Kansas City's first win of the season. Next Game: vs New England

23. Dolphins ( L vs KC 15-34 ) Ryan Tannehill completed less than 50% of his pass attempts. No scoring after their first two possessions in the second half. Next Game: @ Oakland

24. Titans ( L vs CIN 7-33 ) Two missed field goals and two interceptions in the first half for Tennessee.  Jake Locker is questionable for next week. Next Game: @ Indianapolis 

25. Jets ( L vs CHI 19-17 ) Defense held Chicago to 60 yards rushing. Geno Smith throws for 300 yards for the first time since Week 3 of last season. Next Game: vs Detroit

31. Buccaneers ( L @ ATL 14-56 ) 11 consecutive drives this game without scoring. Lost starting quarterback Josh McCown for at least a week. Defense forced four Atlanta turnovers. Next Game: @ Pittsburgh 

32. Raiders ( L @ NE 9-16 ) Oakland has not scored a touchdown in 7 out of their last 8 quarters of play. Offense was 5-13 on 3rd down. Next Game: vs Miami

Yesterday the NCAA announced that it will be covering travel expenses for student-athletes participating in championship events. The NCAA will pay up to $3,000 in travel, meals and hotel accommodations for student-athletes participating in the men and women Final Four and $4,000 to players participating in the championship game. The College Football Playoffs will also provide $3,000 in travel expenses for each student-athlete's family that will be attend the game in Arlington,TX. In the NCAA's press release, President Mark Emmert said "Championship experiences like the Final Four create memories of a lifetime for a student-athlete, and we want to make sure their families are there to support and celebrate with them." 1   In previous years, the NCAA has provided free tickets for family members traveling to championship contest. basketballsocietyonline.com MVP: Russell Westbrook Oklahoma City Thunder This year's MVP race has been the closest it's been in recent memory. With 5 legit candidates, anyone of them is well deserving of the award but my choice is Westbrook. Not only did he break a record I thought would never be broken with 42 triple-doubles, but after losing 3 out of their top 5 scorers, Westbrook still has the Thunder in the playoffs as a 6th seed and lead the NBA in scoring. James Harden had an outstanding season but has a lot more help in Houston than Westbrook has in OKC, which was one of my biggest deciding factors. warriorsworld.net Defensive Player of the Year: Draymond Green Golden State Warriors After coming in 2nd in DPOY voting 2 seasons in a row Draymond Green final wins the award. Players Need Rest

The media, fans of the NBA and legends of the game are getting upset at coaches resting star players throughout the season. I understand that the fans want to see their favorite player every night but in order to get peak performance out of your favorite players they need rest. NBA players more now than ever have a very demanding schedule on and off the court. Between traveling for games, having multiple endorsement deals and playing on back to back nights; coaches believe that its only fair to gave the players a night off. Most of the players that get nights off usually play through multiple injuries all the time so we shouldn't complain much. I know NBA tickets are not cheap and you expect to see the stars when you buy that ticket but that's the risk you take when you make your purchase. The players and coaches have to put their organization's needs first. None of these players are saying they need rest but it is much appreciated.
