Paul George to Opt Out of Contract in 2018
Indiana Pacers forward Paul George has decided that he plans to opt out of his contract at the end of the 2018 season. George has spent his entire 7 year career in Indiana and has stated that he will like to return to his home state of California and play for the Lakers. A 4-time All-Star, PG has a career average of 18.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. After a gruesome leg injury in 2014, George came back in 2015 and averaged career highs in points, rebounds and assist. Paul George didn't make an All-NBA team, disqualifying him for the "Rose rule", which would have allowed the Pacers to sign George to a 5-year $207 million contract. Now the most the Pacers can offer PG is 5-years $177 million. The Lakers can can only offer PG 5-years $130 million. I'm 99.9% sure Paul George is fed up playing in Indiana and will not mind the pay cut he would take by going to the Lakers.
