Auburn vs Mississippi State Position Breakdown

Image
Quarterbacks  - Two of the top quarterbacks in the SEC are playing in this game. Senior Nick Marshall is a proven leader for the Tigers. Auburn has a 17-2 record with Marshall as their starter. Question may rise about his ability to throw the football, completing 59% of his passes this season, but his ability to make plays in the running games makes him dangerous. On the other sideline is Heisman candidate Dak Prescott. After scoring 5 total touchdowns versus Top 10 Texas A&M, Prescott has caught the nation's attention. The Junior leads the SEC in quarterback rating and Top 10 in rushing yards. Nick Marshall has plenty of big game experience but I believe Dak Prescott is the hottest player in the country. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of NFL teams that are looking for late round quarterbacks tuned in. Advantage:  Mississippi State Running Backs - Mississippi State and Auburn are third and forth in the SEC in rushing, respectively. Both teams quarterb...

Hope for USM Football

Ed Wilkins | College Football Analyst The Golden Eagles of Southern Miss issippi  is one of th e youngest teams in the nation. USM  only starts 5 seniors with the bulk of the roster being  sophomores  and  juniors.  The sophomore Nick   Mullens  is under his second year under Coach  Monken  as the starting quarterback. Mullens  has a new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey who happened to coach  Mullens  back in high school at Spain Park (Hoover, AL).  Mullens  has the ability to be a great leader like a Southern Miss legend by the name of Austin Davis. Southern Miss is young in the backfield  also. Junior Jalen Richard, Sophomore George Payne and  true Freshman Ito Smith look to carry the load for the team this season. The receivers are led by Senior  Markese  Triplett but anchored by young sophomore talent such as “T-Man” Holmes, James Cox, and Marquise  Ricard . Defensi...

Trell's AFC Prediction

AFC East 1. Patriots (13-3) Easily the best team in the division and arguably the NFL, the Patriots will have nothing but Super Bowl aspirations entering this season. Tom Brady still can play at a MVP caliber with a host of "plug and play" players on offense, including his favorite target Rob Gronkowski.  The biggest splash made this offseason maybe on the defensive side of the ball with the signings of Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner. The much improved defense will be key in getting Brady his elusive 4th championship. 2. Jets (8-8)   Rex Ryan is back as the Jets look to improve on last years surprising 8-8 season with a revamped receiving group with Eric Decker and Jacoby Ford.  More importantly, the Jets signed speedster Chris Johnson to improve a backfield that was quietly top 10 in the NFL last season. Health has been an issue for the Jets defense in recent years, if they can improve on the 22nd ranked pass defense maybe Rex Ryan can sneak his team into the l...
