USM  only starts 5 seniors with the bulk of the roster being  sophomores  and  juniors.  The sophomore Nick   Mullens  is under his second year under Coach  Monken  as the starting quarterback. Mullens  has a new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey who happened to coach  Mullens  back in high school at Spain Park (Hoover, AL).  Mullens  has the ability to be a great leader like a Southern Miss legend by the name of Austin Davis. Southern Miss is young in the backfield  also. Junior Jalen Richard, Sophomore George Payne and  true Freshman Ito Smith look to carry the load for the team this season.
