Devin for 70

Image
Devin Booker scores a career high 70 points in the 130-120 loss against the Boston Celtics joining Kobe Bryant (81), David Robinson (71) and Wilt Chamberlain (100) as the only players in NBA history to score over 70 points in a game. Booker finished the game 21-40 from the field making only 4 3-pointers and 24-26 from the free throw line. After the game a couple of Celtics had comments on Devin Booker's career night. Isaiah Thomas stated that he never saw a team "chase" numbers like that. Thomas referring to how the Suns were intentional fouling late in the game to give Booker more chances to score. I'll be mad too if a second year pro score 70 points in my arena. Devin Booker is an elite talent and future superstar in the NBA. If the Celtics had a problem with Booker scoring they should've done more to stop him. The Suns not a good basketball team but having a bright spot like this during the season is a major confidence booster for the young team. I don'

Give it to The Brodie

Image
Russell Westbrook is 7 triple-doubles short of Oscar Roberson's season season record of 41. Last night Westbrook recorded his 35th triple-double in the 122-97 win over Philadelphia. The Brodie became the 1st player in NBA history to get a triple-double while shooting 100% from the field going 6-6 and 6-6 from free throw.  If Russell Westbrook breaks the triple-double record he hands down the MVP. No way you don't award a once in a lifetime season with the MVP trophy. James Harden is the only other player that I would consider if Westbrook breaks the record. Harden has the Rockets in 3rd places in the western conference while the Thunder sit in 6th. Houston's had a roster much better than the Thunder. For Oklahoma City to be 6th is a feat in itself consider them losing 2 out of 3 star players this off season.  I can care less about team record if Westbrook breaks this record. No one thought that in this day a player could average a triple-double and Russell is doing

LaVar responds to LeBron's response

The LaVar Ball-LeBron James war of words continues. A day after LeBron told Ball to "keep my kids name out of your mouth" LaVar responds by saying, among other things, that he will not apologize for the comments and that he has yet to see a superstar kids live up to their father's name.  What are you doing LaVar? We saw your oldest son Lonzo leading the nation in assist per game. We saw the 92 point game by LaMelo. All 3 of your sons will be UCLA basketball players. Let their work on the court speak for your family name. You running your mouth offending people is only damaging your brand. You have to have tact in order for people to respect your opinion. I'm a fan of the Ball brothers. It's sad to see their father turn them into the villains of the basketball word.  I don' expect children of superstars to live up to the name. If your father is a superstar you have it made. Their kids don't have to work as hard as the other kids who's parents m

LeBron responds to LaVar

Image
thebiglead.com LaVar Ball, father of UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball, hasn't been shy when it come time to compare his three sons to the greatest basketball players of all time. Recently, Ball stated that because of  their father's superstar status, LeBron James two sons will never be able to live up to that name. LeBron responded by saying LaVar Ball should 'keep his kids name out of his mouth.' I'm all about being your children's biggest fan. Some of the things LaVar Ball are outlandish to say the least, but the confidence he has in his children is a good thing. Even if they don't live up to the hype at least they have someone in their corner that believed in them the whole time. thebiglead.com The problem with the LeBron comment is that it wasn't well thought out. Naturally there will be pressure but if you follow LeBron you know that he doesn't put any pressure on his kids. Not only that but he would do anything to take the pressure awa

The NFL has Failed Colin Kaepernick.

Image
Google Why hasn't any NFL team signed Colin Kaepernick yet or will they for that matter? Does he even deserve another chance ? It's hard to make a case for him as of late, I mean in his last 24 starts he is just 4-20 which is awful to say the least. But lets be honest the San Fransico 4'9ers are an awful organization that was doomed the day they let Jim Harbaugh walk out the door. He was put into a position to fail as a quarterback over the past 2 seasons. So yes this man deserves another shot in the NFL. Since 1995 the 4'9ers have reached one Super Bowl and guess who was the quarterback? That's right Kaep!! He has 72 career touchdowns to just 30 interceptions, 2300 career rushing yards. In his first career post season game he totaled 444 total yards of offense with 4 touchdowns. This guy is a stud and you mean to tell me he can't even be a back up? Its not what's happening on the field because guys like Jay Cutler, Nick Foles, Blaine Gabbert, keeping f

No Love For KD in OKC

The Warriors organization believe that the Thunder ownership didn't show enough appreciation to Kevin Durant during his transition from Oklahoma City to Oakland. My question is what is the Thunder organization supposed to do? Kevin Durant was the marquee name for the Thunder franchise for 9 season. In those 9 seasons Durant has earned 1st All-NBA honors 5 times, 4 scoring titles, a MVP and one finals appearance back in '12. These accomplishments would put KD in the hall of fame alone. Still, OKC fans not thinking about the success, their minds are on the exit. There were no promises made to the Thunder that Durant would return but no one saw a reason for him to leave. You have a superstar point guard in Russell Westbrook, you were a game short of the franchise's 2nd finals appearance with a 1st year head coach. Things are looking up for OKC. Not only did Durant leave, he went to the team that came back from a 3-1 lead on him in the western conference finals.  If he would&

Players Need Rest

The media, fans of the NBA and legends of the game are getting upset at coaches resting star players throughout the season. I understand that the fans want to see their favorite player every night but in order to get peak performance out of your favorite players they need rest. NBA players more now than ever have a very demanding schedule on and off the court. Between traveling for games, having multiple endorsement deals and playing on back to back nights; coaches believe that its only fair to gave the players a night off. Most of the players that get nights off usually play through multiple injuries all the time so we shouldn't complain much. I know NBA tickets are not cheap and you expect to see the stars when you buy that ticket but that's the risk you take when you make your purchase. The players and coaches have to put their organization's needs first. None of these players are saying they need rest but it is much appreciated.
