Tristan Thompson willing to re-sign with Cavs

Image
5th year power forward Tristan Thompson has proposed a 3 year / $53 million deal and will wait to see if the Cavs will agree on the terms. Thompson averaged 8.5 points and 8 rebounds a game this past season while primarily coming off the bench. During the NBA Finals Thompson averaged 9.6 points and 10.8 rebounds in the losing effort. During negotiations, Thompson's camp was asking for the max contract of 5 years / $94 million dollars.   Tristan Thompson is a back-up power forward and will be making $17.6 million dollars next season if this contract stands. This is a problem. For one, Thompson doesn't even average a double-double and even if you look at his stats per 36 minutes its still only 11.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per. Those numbers are not worth $17.6 million. The problem with the Cavs in the NBA Finals outside of injuries was lack of low post scoring. It was so bad that LeBron had to play power forward and center during long stretches of the game. Tristan Thompso...

5 Bold Predictions for NBA Free Agency

Image
Today is the start of free agency in the NBA and there's a ton of talent looking for new places to call home. After hearing the rumors, reading discussions boards and listen to reports, here 's my 5 bold predictions for this free agency summer. 1. LaMarcus Aldridge will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers - The Lakers are looking to make a splash this summer and this is it. Aldridge averaged 22.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in the past 3 seasons for the Portland Trail Blaze/rs but these numbers did not translate into teams success. In the past 3 seasons the Blazers have not made it past the 2nd round. With Nicolas Batum gone to the Hornets, LaMarcus is looking to be around better, more experienced players and wouldn't mind being in a bigger market to showcase his talent. Aldridge will be a huge help for the Lakers quest to get back into the playoffs. lakerholicz.com 2. Kevin Love will be traded to the Celtics - The Boston Celtics have had their eyes on Kevin ...

PG Kyrie Irving Cleveland Cavaliers (23 years old) 21.7 ppg 5.1 apg 3.1 rpg - Irving is quickly emerging as a top 5 point guard in this league. Making his 3rd All-Star appearance in his 4th season, Kyrie has shown elite ball handling, a consistent  jumper and has became one of the best finishers at the rim in the league. Two 50 point games this season proves that Kyrie is aiming to be the best point guard in the league for years to come. courtesy of zimbio.com SG Victor Oladipo Orlando Magic (23 years old) 17.9 ppg 4.1 apg 4.2 rpg - Victor Oladipo has become a leader on the floor for this young Orlando Magic team. Trell's 5 BOLD Predictions for the 2014-15 NBA Season

Image
Football is upon us but it's never a bad time to talk NBA hoops. A lot has change in the NBA since the Spurs won the title in June over the Miami Heat. LeBron's return to Cleveland, Carmelo staying in NYC and a host of other off season moves have most NBA teams feeling good about their chances to make a title run. Things can change between now and the tip-off of a new season but here are my five predictions that most NBA fans will not see coming. 1 . The Raptors will make the Eastern Conference Final The Toronto Raptors are coming off a surprising season finishing 3rd in the East with a 48-34 record. Despite getting knocked out in the 1st round by the more experienced Brooklyn Nets in 7 games, the Raptors have been quiet but very productive this off season. Resigning "boarder line all-star" Kyle Lowry was top priority for the Raptors who will also have the services of all-star and FIBA World Cup participate DeMar DeRozen. To boost their depth in the backcourt ...
