Week 2 Playoff Projections

Ed Wilkins | College Football Analyst

# 1 Florida State 1-0 (LW: Win: OKST F/37-31)
·        Many threw salt on Florida State for just beating a feisty Oklahoma State team by six points. Jameis Winston threw for 370 yards with just 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions but had a Heisman like 28 yard run touchdown late in the 3rd Quarter. The defense gave up 31 points when just last year the scoring defense for FSU was at 12.1 points per game, but look at it like this. Florida State is finding out what their reloaded team can do and will just continue to get better week in and week out. The Seminoles take on The Citadel this weekend followed by a bye week. Do not sleep on the defending National Champions.

#2 Alabama 1-0 (LW: Win: WVU F/33-23)
·        It is a new generation in a sense for the Crimson Tide this year. New Offensive Coordinator Lane Kiffin (Former Southern Cal Head Coach) will be calling plays for the great Nick Saban. Quarterback Blake Sims showed his inexperience very little in his first start. Once settled, Sims showed that he can distribute the ball to two horses in their backfield (Henry and Yeldon) but aslo to the nation’s best WR, Amari Cooper. You might say “Bama only won by 10 points”. Well 10 points is 2 possessions. Bama will continue to be a dominate team.

#3 Oregon 1-0 (LW: Win: SDAK F/62-13)
·        Nothing new with Oregon, still scheduling teams we have never heard of and putting 62 on the scoreboard. Don't not be fooled by this, Oregon is a VERY good football team with top ranked talent. Marcus Mariota, Heisman hopeful for the Ducks was 14/20 with 267 yards and 3 passing touchdowns. Watch out for perhaps the Ducks’ new star Byron Marshall. Marshall recorded 90 yards rushing with 8 receptions and 138 yards with 2 touchdowns, no big deal. Next week Oregon will take on Michigan State, let us all see how good the Ducks really are.

#4 Oklahoma (LW: Win: LT F/48-16)
·        Oklahoma did indeed dominate a sub-par Conference USA last weekend. Trevor Knight had okay numbers throwing 1 touchdown and 1 interception. The defense gave up only 54 yards rushing. Oklahoma is a pretty good team but definitely beatable in my eyes. The Sooners look to get better as they take on in-state rival Tulsa. I expect for Knight and Sterling Shepard to hook up more as the season continues.

First Four Out
Auburn (1-0)
Georgia (1-0)
Michigan St. (1-0)
Ohio St. (1-0)
National Championship Trophy
