Week 3 Playoff Projections

#1 Florida State 2-0 (LW: WIN: The Citadel F/37-12)

·       Nothing out of the ordinary, Florida State wins yet ANOTHER game, extending their win streak to 18 games. The Seminoles may have proved to us that they have depth; 10 different players caught a pass and 7 different players recorded rushing yards. Winston threw for 256 and 2 touchdowns in the rout over lower-tier The Citadel. Florida State was able to drive up and down the field while their starters were in the game (starters sat the 4th quarter). Both touchdowns for The Citadel came in the 4th quarter. Florida State has a bye-week then they are set to take on Clemson (Sep. 20). Look for the Seminoles to improve coming out of their bye-week.

#2 Oregon 2-0 (LW: WIN: Michigan State F/46-27)

·       I learned that the Ducks are FAST, physical, and can face adversity well. The Ducks were down 27-18 early in the 3rd quarter. Michigan State was being the bullies until Marcus Mariota hooked up with Devon Allen for a 24 yard touchdown pass. After that score the Ducks turned it up on the Spartans scoring 21 unanswered. Mariota finished with 318 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. Freshman runningback Royce Freeman rushed for 89 yards and 2 big time touchdowns. Redshirt freshman Devon Allen had a huge day himself with 3 receptions, 110 yards and 2 touchdowns. Oregon takes on Wyoming next week; I believe it is safe to say that the Ducks are serious.

#3 Alabama 2-0 (LW: WIN: Florida Atlantic F/41-0)

·       Alabama took this game and made it into somewhat of a scrimmage; both Blake Sims and Jake Coker threw for over 200 yards. Sims went 12-14 while Coker was 15-24. Amari Cooper had 13 receptions which tied Alabama’s all-time receiving leader DJ Hall. This was Cooper’s 4th straight 100 yard game. The Tide out gained the Owls 620-145 and let me mention that the game was canceled early in the 4th quarter due to lightning. Alabama takes on my alma mater Southern Miss next weekend as they continue their route to the College Playoffs.

#4 Oklahoma 2-0 (LW: WIN: Tulsa F/52-7)

·       Trevor Knight and star receiver Sterling Shepard had a great game against in-state rival Tulsa. Knight threw for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns. Shepard recorded 8 receptions with 177 yards and 1 touchdown. The Sooners have won 6 games in a row now.Oklahoma’s defense looks solid after the first two weeks of the college football season. We will get to see Oklahoma’s 1st test as they host SEC team Tennessee this weekend.

FIRST 4 OUT
1.    Auburn 2-0
2.    Georgia 2-0
3.    Texas A&M 2-0
4.    Southern Cal 2-0
