And the MVP goes to...

This NBA season has provided one of the closest MVP races in recent history. With a handful of players playing high caliber basketball there can only be one of them to take the league's best player award home. Many analyst have Steph Curry has there MVP frontrunner and I can't blame them. The Golend State point guard had led his team to the NBA's best record and in prime position to make a title run. Other may give a slight edge to the explosive Russell Westbrook. With all of the injuries to the OKC team, the All-Star MVP leads the league with 11 triple-doubles and is fighting with New Orleans for the 8th and final playoff spot. Both Curry and Westbrook are having an outstanding season but the MVP has to go to the Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden.

James Harden is leading the Houston Rockets to a top 3 seed in the tough western conference. Most of the season the Rockets were without big man Dwight Howard which put an bigger scoring load on Harden. James Harden is leading the NBA in scoring at 27.6 points per game, 5th in steals per game and 9th in assist per game while leading the league in minutes played.

No one in the league has done more with the talent around them than James Harden this season. Without James Harden the Rockets would not be a playoff team. Steph Curry and Russell Westbrook are both anchors for there teams but neither one of these players have to shoulder the load like Harden and still have their team in the top 3 in the conference. Without Steph Curry, the Warriors are still a playoff team. Russell Westbrook has the numbers to be MVP but as an 8th seed winning the MVP is all but impossible (ask Kobe).

All three of these players have a great case for MVP but James Harden's season has been the most impressive. Bringing Houston back to prominence was something many people doubted James Harden could do. With home-court advantage in the first round and a healthy Dwight Howard, James Harden and the Rockets will have a legitimate chance to make a title run and they would not be in that position with the play of the future MVP James Harden.
